GET OUTDOORS

Did you know it’s National Get Outdoors day on June 9th!? It’s a day to celebrate what the area around you has to offer and enjoy the great outdoors with your family, on your own or with friends. So, as a little helping hand, we’ve put together some of our favourite activities to do outside. So, sit down and take a little read for some weekend inspiration!

Go for a hike
Nothing makes you feel more at home with nature than pulling out your hiking boots and going on a great hike with some incredible views. There are some amazing day hikes all over the UK for you to take part in during this weekend, we would also recommend taking a picnic with you. Maybe try planning a hike in advance and getting a few of your friends involved!

Go on a dog walk
If you’re looking for a simple way to spend time outdoors during your day to day routine, try taking the dog on a longer walk than normal, or think about taking a different route. Not only is it good for you, but your four-legged friend will thank you for it too!

Take some time in the garden
Don’t fancy straying too far from home? Why not get outside and into the garden? Summer is the perfect time to get the grass cut, tidy up and plant some new flowers in your garden. Not only will it mean you get some precious fresh air, it’ll also leave you feeling accomplished when your garden looks tip top!

Camping
We just couldn’t leave this one out! What better way to celebrate National Get Outdoors Day than by spending an entire day and night outside? With modern conveniences and technology, it’s easier than ever to find somewhere to camp and camp comfortably. So, whether it’s with your friends or with family, get out and have fun! But don’t forget to follow the Leave No Trace Principles:

  1. Plan ahead and prepare.
  2. Travel and camp on durable surfaces.
  3. Leave what you find.
  4. Minimise campfire impacts.
  5. Respect wildlife.
  6. Be considerate of other visitors.

Family fun

Looking for some activities to do as a family? The great outdoors offers an abundance of possibilities!  These can include games such as rounders, hide and seek or tag. You could also even do something simple like go a walk, go on a picnic or a bike ride.
