CAMPING FOR BEGINNERS - TIPS & TRICKS

Want to try out camping for the first time but unsure where to start? We hear you! Planning your first ever camping trip can feel overwhelming, so we’ve put together a list of everything you’ll need and a few tips to get you on your way. So, next time you think about heading out for a staycation, refer back to this and get camping!

What You’ll Need:

There are a number of essentials you’ll need to pack for your first time camping, our advice is to invest in the basics; that way they’ll last you for years to come! Here’s a breakdown of the items we can’t live without, why not write them down and make a checklist?

Tent - This one goes without saying! You’ll need somewhere to rest your head at night, and we’ve got just what you’re looking for! When choosing a tent, make sure you consider exactly what it is you need it for; where will you be camping? How many people should the tent fit? What accessories do you need? Sleeping Bag - Make sure you bring a sleeping bag, and possibly some form of sleeping mat or air bed for a little extra comfort!

Torch - Much needed for finding the loo during the night!

Kitchen Supplies - Think a couple of plates, bowls, cutlery, a water container, a stove and a pot or pan!

Furniture – Camping chairs and tables can go a long way to creating a great social area outside the tent or in the living area. That way you can sit back and really enjoy your surroundings, why not also take a BBQ during the Summer!?

First Aid Kit - First aid kits, sun cream and other safety essentials should always be part of your camping kit. 

Extra Clothing - You never know what kind of weather you’re going to experience in the UK, so it’s best to always cover all basis. Our advice, take lots of layers! That way you can be prepared for hot or cold weather.

Sense of Adventure - Last but certainly not least never forget your sense of adventure, Khyampers! Camping is all about having fun and enjoying the great outdoors, so grab your camping buddy and pack your things!


Tips & Tricks:

Take a Piece of Home - Feeling a little nervous about leaving behind your home comforts? Take them with you! Take some small things from home, such as your favourite snack or your iPod, to help you feel more relaxed and at home in your tent. See it as a home away from home!

Pack in Advance - Don’t leave packing to the last minute! Make a list and organise your packing ahead of leaving for your trip, that way you’ll never leave anything behind!

Plan - It's always wise before purchasing anything, to have a think about the type of camping you want to have a go at, as different forms of camping will require certain types of equipment. Different forms of camping include campsite camping, festival camping, glamping or even wild camping.

Pitch Makes Perfect - Test out pitching your tent before you leave. That way, when you arrive at the campsite, you’ll know exactly what you’re doing.
